I am a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology. Since teaching young children has always been my dream, I returned to UNC-G to earn a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. During my teaching career I have developed a passion for teaching reading. In 2012, I added a Reading Specialist Certification to my license.  I believe that having the skills for reading will take you places whether in books or in life! 

I have been teaching and working with students since 1999.   It's been an amazing journey that I still enjoy today! I have taught second grade, a first and second combination class, third grade reading, served as Reading Specialist and a Title One Contact, and have taught first grade.  My greatest joy has come from teaching first grade and reading!

I am a life long learner who enjoys exploring new interests. I love looking at and shopping for antiques.  It's fun to learn the history behind a piece that has stood the test of time. The beach is my happy place where I love to go to relax and fish. I also enjoy vintage cars and going to cruise-ins. Rescue dogs have a special place in my heart. I have miniature Australian Shepherd and an Aussie/Pomeranian mix.  They bring lots of joy to my life!  I see each day as an opportunity to learn something new about myself and the world.
