Fifth grade students at Trinity Elementary have been taking learning outdoors by using real weather tools to observe and collect data about current weather conditions. Students have been measuring temperature, wind speed, and humidity using tools such as thermometers, anemometers, and barometers. They record their observations and discuss how the data relates to daily weather patterns in North Carolina.
This helps students understand how weather data is collected, measured, and used to identify patterns over time. By applying scientific practices in an authentic outdoor setting, students are strengthening their skills in observation, data collection, and analysis while making real-world connections to local weather conditions.
